Welcome to the online home of the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department. On behalf of the men and women of the Department, I’d like to invite you to explore our website and learn a bit more about us.
Since 1962, we have protected the health, life, and property of the citizens of Stafford County, VA and its surrounding areas by providing high-quality fire, medical, rescue, and emergency services. We also support community risk reduction efforts by sponsoring hazard prevention and public education activities. And, since 2005, have done so in conjunction with the Stafford County Fire and Rescue Department (SCFRD).
Within our ranks you will find a broad mix of people each with a unique background. They come from all walks of life. Whether they be career firefighters or EMTs elsewhere, trades people, engineers, program managers, business people or military members, each is willing to give of their time and talent to aid their neighbors when they need help the most. In turn their sacrifice allows Stafford County to provide more fire and rescue services than it could otherwise while ensuring the members of our community remain deeply involved in its protection. And, while it goes unsaid far too often, I'd like to acknowledge the support of our families who enable each of us to serve.
Affectionately known as the courthouse fire station, we are located blocks away from Stafford County’s Courthouse and Government Center. This central location finds us responding to incidents throughout the county on a daily basis, giving our members the opportunity to put into practice what we train for. Within our station, we share responsibilities with a full-time career SCFRD suppression and ambulance crew for providing operational staffing for an engine, a ladder truck, two EMS transport units and a brush truck. We also provide a command officer for county wide responses to major incidents to supplement the SCFRD’s on duty chief officers. When not staffing you can find our members sharpening their skills through education and training events as well as participating in one of our many community outreach events.
As we look forward to celebrating our 65th year of service, I invite you to come join our team. Being a volunteer is not easy but it is most definitely rewarding knowing you can make a difference in your community. Help us deliver on our mission of "Helping our neighbors when they need help the most" and come learn why our motto is “Dedicated 2 Excellence!”
