Congratulations go out to SVFD Technician Laird Abbott's Father, Firefighter Clarence Abbott of the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company #2. On 18 November, Bargaintown held a housing ceremony for their new Rescue Engine. During the ceremony, Clarence and fellow Bargaintown firefighter Dave Bowen were honored by having Rescue Engine 1527 dedicated in their honor. Bargaintown Fire Chief Gene Sharp wanted to recognize the combined 90 years of service both men, Abbott for 55 years and Bowen for 35 years, had given to their community.

Technician Abbott, his family and his Mother joined in the celebration along with a few of Clarence's closest fire service friends. Rounding out the crowd were members of the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company and Ladies Auxiliary as well as various other local fire service members. During the ceremony, Chief Sharp revealed a plaque affixed to the Rescue Engine dedicating it to the two men. The Reverend Mr. Tom Sweeney, former Cardiff Volunteer Fire Company #1 Assistant Chief, blessed the apparatus and then the members of the Company #2 officially housed their apparatus by backing it into the station.

Rescue Engine 1527 serves as the first due out apparatus for Bargaintown's Fire Station 1 on Mill Road in Egg Harbor Township, NJ where Technician Abbott started his Fire Service career nearly 30 years ago.
