| The members of the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department would like to sincerely thank everyone who came out to stand with us and pay tribute to a man who meant so much to so many. The outpouring of support from our community and the fire service was truly humbling. We extend a heartfelt thank you to the U.S. Marine Corps, the Office of Stafford County Sheriff - David "DP" Decatur, Sheriff, and our brothers and sisters from fire and rescue departments across the region who joined us to honor Chief Thayer. Your presence and support reflect the deep respect Ron earned throughout a lifetime of service. While days like today carry sadness, they also bring something Ron always valued—people coming together. It was comforting to see so many familiar faces, sharing memories, laughter, and stories. In many ways, it was exactly the kind of gathering Ron would have wanted. As we continue forward, may we always remember that Chief Thayer is watching over us. His leadership, faith, and dedication set a standard that will continue to guide our department for generations. Rest easy, Chief. Your watch may have ended, but your legacy will live on in each of us. 🚒❤️ |
