| Strengthening Service. Last night, the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department was honored to welcome Aquia District Supervisor Maya Guy for Aquia to Company 2. The evening provided an excellent opportunity to discuss the realities of today’s fire and rescue service, including budget constraints, the importance of ongoing training, and the resources needed to continue providing the high level of service our community expects. One of the most important topics of discussion was the value of the volunteer fire service. Volunteers continue to play a vital role in protecting Stafford County by responding to emergencies, staffing apparatus, supporting community events, and donating countless hours to training. Continued support for volunteers—through funding, recruitment, retention, and community engagement—is essential to ensuring we can continue serving alongside our career counterparts for years to come. We also highlighted the outstanding partnership between our volunteer members and the career staff of Stafford County Fire and Rescue. We train to the same standards, respond to the same emergencies, and operate as one unified team. That interoperability ensures the citizens of Stafford County receive the highest level of service, regardless of who answers the call. We sincerely appreciate Supervisor Guy taking the time to visit our station, listen to our members, and learn more about both the challenges and opportunities facing today’s fire service. Meaningful conversations with our elected officials help strengthen the future of our department and the volunteer service as a whole. Dedicated 2 Excellence. 🚒🇺🇸 |
