It’s going to be a hot one with an Excessive Heat Watch until 8pm.

With that out of the way, let’s introduce you to another of our members!

Member Profile: Firefighter Jeffery Branham

Why did you become a firefighter?
⁃ I was born into it, grew up in a firehouse. Watching my dad leave and the stories they told i knew what i was here to do.

What about being a firefighter do you enjoy most?
- I love the job but making someone’s day better than it was before they called 911 is what I enjoy the most.

How long have you been a firefighter?
⁃8 years

When did you join the SVFD?
⁃January of 2022

What do you do for a living?
⁃I put power lines underground. Hoping to continue my career as a fireman.

What is your greatest memory of your time with the SVFD?
⁃The amount of helping hands that are in the department to help you with any problem you may come upon.

What positions have you held within the SVFD?

Engine or Truck?
⁃I’d have to say the truck, searching for life in a fire with no protection.

What advice would you give someone who wants to become a firefighter?
⁃Always be willing to learn. Training never stops. If you don’t know just ask and always show up with a good positive attitude.
