Thanksgiving remains one of the busiest days for home cooking fires, and a few simple steps can make all the difference.

Here are some quick safety reminders from your SVFD family:

🔥 Stay in the kitchen when you’re frying, boiling, or broiling. Unattended cooking is the leading cause of holiday fires.
🧯 Keep kids and pets 3 feet away from hot appliances and cooking areas.
🦃 Deep frying a turkey? Make sure it’s completely thawed and dry, and always fry outside, well away from your home, deck, or garage.
🔥 Keep flammables clear—that includes towels, packaging, utensils, and oven mitts around your stovetop.
🔔 Check your smoke alarms before the big cooking day.

From all of us at the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, we wish you a warm, safe, and fire-free Thanksgiving. 🧡🚒
Stay alert, cook smart, and enjoy your holiday!
