While incidents involving people trapped in elevators are relatively rare, they still require a knowledgeable and prepared response.

During this training, firefighters learn about the different types of elevator systems, how the equipment operates, and the safest methods to access and assist occupants who may be trapped inside. Understanding these systems is critical so that when the call comes in, our crews can quickly and safely resolve the situation.

Although elevator entrapments are typically non-emergent events, being stuck in a confined space can quickly lead to anxiety, fear, and panic for those inside. Proper training ensures our firefighters can not only resolve the mechanical issue safely but also reassure and care for those affected.

At the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, we continue to train for a wide variety of hazards so we’re always ready to serve our community—no matter the call.

Dedicated 2 Excellence. 🚒💪
