- What inspired you to become a volunteer firefighter?
What inspired me to become a volunteer firefighter was my grandfather. When I was young I grew up around a firehouse and was constantly there. I became the 5th generation firefighter in my family.
- Why did you choose to volunteer with our fire department?
I chose SVFD because they are dedicated 2 excellence. That phrase stuck with me ever since I first started. No matter what day you're having or what you are doing in the moment when the call drops, we promptly respond and we show up to turn the community's bad day into a better one. We are dedicated to help our community when they need it most.
- What’s your favorite part about serving the community?
My favorite part about serving the community is showing up and being there for others when most needed. Whether it's to show up for an emergency or to show up for an event, I like to help out and putting others needs before mine. I love to do the touch a truck events and fire safety week at the schools and see the smiles on the kids faces when they get to tour the firetruck and learn about it.
- What advice would you give someone thinking about volunteering?
My advice would be if you like to serve others then totally do it. It is rewarding to help others. You will also build a brotherhood and sisterhood with those you work with through team building, training and spending time together. |
