| But there is another critical member of that crew — the Ambulance Driver.
At the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, ambulance drivers are highly trained members who play a vital role in emergency response and patient safety. These members are responsible for safely operating emergency vehicles under stressful and rapidly changing conditions, navigating traffic, positioning apparatus on scenes, assisting with patient movement, operating medical and communications equipment, and supporting EMS crews during emergencies.
Becoming an ambulance driver requires dedication and training. Members complete a 4 day Emergency Vehicle Operator Courses (EVOC), department driver training programs, emergency scene operations instruction, apparatus familiarization, and ongoing competency training to ensure they can safely respond when seconds matter most. Many of our drivers also continue their training to become EMTs, firefighters, or paramedics.
This is an incredible opportunity for those who want to serve their community but may not know where to begin. Whether you are interested in emergency medicine, public service, teamwork, or simply giving back, becoming an ambulance driver is a meaningful way to make a difference.
If you have ever wanted to be part of something bigger than yourself, now is the time. We are always looking for dedicated volunteers who are ready to learn, serve, and help protect our community.
Join us. Train with us. Serve with us.
