Last Night marks a major milestone for Stafford Volunteer Fire Department and a proud moment for our members and community

For the first time in our department’s history, we successfully staffed a Medic Unit completely with volunteer personnel.

Many people may not realize there is a difference between an ambulance and a Medic Unit. While both respond to medical emergencies, a Medic Unit operates at the Advanced Life Support (ALS) level and requires a higher level of certification and staffing. A standard ambulance is staffed with a driver and an EMT, while a Medic Unit requires an ALS provider — such as a Paramedic or Advanced EMT — along with an EMT/Driver.

This achievement represents countless hours of training, certification, dedication, and sacrifice from our volunteers who continue to step up to serve this community at the highest level possible.

Volunteer EMS is not easy. It takes commitment, teamwork, and people willing to answer the call at all hours of the day and night. Last night proves that the volunteer fire and rescue service is still strong, still growing, and still committed to providing exceptional care to the citizens and visitors of Stafford County.

To every member who helped make this happen — thank you. This is a proud moment for Company 2 and a glimpse at what our future of volunteer EMS can look like.

Dedicated 2 Excellence.
