| As we prepare to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the United States, the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department wants everyone to enjoy a fun, memorable, and most importantly safe Independence Day.
Before you light that fuse, remember:
🎇 Know the Law ✔️ Only consumer fireworks are permitted in accordance with Virginia and Stafford County regulations. ✔️ Fireworks are only permitted on July 4 and December 31. ✔️ Always check for any local burn bans or restrictions before using fireworks.
👨👩👧 Keep Kids Safe 🧑🚒 Adult supervision is required at all times. 💧 Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose nearby. 📍 Use fireworks only in open areas away from homes, vehicles, dry grass, and trees. 🚫 Never allow children to handle or ignite fireworks. ✨ Light one firework at a time and never attempt to relight a dud.
🗑️ Dispose of Fireworks Properly 💦 Soak all used fireworks in a bucket of water for several hours. ❄️ Ensure they are completely cool. 🛍️ Place them in a plastic bag before throwing them away.
Every year, preventable fireworks accidents result in serious burns, injuries, and fires. A few extra moments of caution can make the difference between a memorable celebration and an emergency response.
From all of us at the Stafford Volunteer Fire Department, we wish you and your family a safe, happy, and patriotic Fourth of July as we celebrate 250 years of American independence!
